Update from Hutt Water Polo and Flippa Ball

2010 Hutt Water Polo and Flippa Ball Schools Leagues Update at 14 June www.huttwaterpolo.org.nz

It’s great to see so many supporters poolside cheering on their teams this year as well as heaps of players having fun and enjoying themselves. The draws for 16 and 23 June are published on our web page. All teams have a bye on Wednesday, 30 June with the comp restarting in Term 3 on 21 July. Weekly results and points grids are also published on our web page. We have listed some pointers that might help teams over the next few weeks. Can all sports coordinators please pass this information on to their coaches, managers, players and parents.

All players need to pay $2 cash at Naenae reception before entering the facility.
Please ask your players to remove all watches, wrist bands, necklaces, piercings etc. before entering the water.
Caps are provided. They are reversible so you only need one cap out of any bucket around the pool.
It is a good idea to have your team arrive twenty minutes before game time. This gives them enough time to find the caps, to unknot them and tie them on, have a team talk and get ready to jump in. You will have two minutes after the hooter [signaling the end of the game before you], to warm up. The ref will blow the whistle thirty seconds before the start of your game so that six players and the goalie can line up ready for the swim off once the hooter has gone for your game.
PLEASE ask your children to unknot their caps before returning them to the bucket at the end of the game. Parents may like to help with this.
It is good to hear three cheers at the end of the game, practice a school version at training.
PLEASE ask a parent to sit at the score table during the game.
Coaches and players must remain behind the 2 metre cone at all times during the game.
Interchanges can happen at any time from the team’s corner of the pool and only when the player being replaced has reached his/her corner of the pool behind the 2m cone.
Ball Under – a player cannot take the ball under the surface of the water.
Off-Side – An attacker will be deemed offside (inside the 2m area) if the attacker enters the attacking 2m zone without the ball. If however, the ball carrier enters the 2m zone, an attacker is then allowed to enter as long as they remain behind the line of the ball carrier.
It is helpful if the players are learning the rules of the game. Flippa Ball Rules and Skills are published on NZWP www.waterpolo.org.nz (click on the frog)
The official default process is clearly set out at the bottom of each and every draw.
All communications for this comp are to be sent to naenaecomp@huttwaterpolo.org.nz Emails should not be sent to personal email addresses.

We welcome positive poolside behavior. If any coach or manager has a query, please approach the Pool Control table. It is inappropriate for any parent to approach a referee during or immediately after a game. Again, queries are welcome at the Pool Control table.

The Hutt Water Polo Club’s Registrations Days for the 2010-11 season are being held on 20 and 21 June. We welcome new players at all age grades.

Thanks for your support
